Why I Do What I Do On RippedOut.com: Answering the Nay-Sayers

  May 10th, 2012

My Passion for Helping Others Achieve Their Fitness Goals

I learned a long time ago to filter out negative influences and to always believe in myself and the things I stand for. So, if you ever feel the need to complain about something I’m doing, or criticize me as a way to make yourself feel better, I have two words for you…

Be gone!

Even though I’ve become quite efficient at drowning out the nay-sayers, there are times when complaints and criticisms leveled in my direction deserve a response. This article is dedicated to one such criticism.

I received an email today from a disgruntled visitor who politely let me know they enjoy the content on RippedOut.com, but were annoyed with my linking back to the sales page for my book, Ripped Out (yes, that’s a link back to my sales page), within many of the articles on my site.

While I was tempted to click delete and move on with my day, this was a criticism that I felt deserved a response. So if you’re someone that doesn’t particularly care for my promotion tactics, let me candidly explain why I provide frequent links back to the sales page for Ripped Out…

I Believe in Ripped Out’s Ability to Change Lives

Before the first keystroke was used to write my book, I sat down to envision the perfect way to communicate my system for dramatic physical transformation to make sure I left no stone unturned and was creating the highest quality product possible.

In fact, I still have my initial brainstorming notes saved on my flash drive, which read:

Things Needed to Make Ripped Out Awesome (Cheesy, I know)

• Make them believe in the system

• Make them believe in themselves

• Thoroughly explain every detail and the principles behind them to garner confidence in my system

• Provide loads of reassurance and encouragement

• Make everything as simple as possible

• Answer every possible question someone could have before getting started

• Drive home the importance of following my instruction and the life-changing nature of the benefits it will provide

Bear in mind this is simply the high level outline that laid out the initial vision of my book and each one of these points was eventually expanded upon within subsequent outlines.

As you can see, these bullet points were not about serving me, but about how I can most effectively impact the lives of others – which is my ultimate goal in life – and the ultimate goal of my book.

After completing Ripped Out (months later) I had successfully captured each of these items, along with many others, that would be crucial to the success of those that would trust me to show them how to build the ideal physique.

Why am I telling you this? Well, I want you to understand that Ripped Out is the result of a vision that I planned out well in advance. A vision I knew I could believe in 100%.

Because of the extensive amount of thought and planning that went into writing Ripped Out I know that my book will positively impact every single person that reads it, which is why I want to have it read by as many sets of eyeballs possible. If this offends you, you’re just going to have to get over it!

I refuse to sell out like most other online fitness writers who produce products and programs seeing nothing but dollar signs, caring nothing for those that trust them enough to invest their money on what they’ve created.

Conversely, I created a quality product that I believe in 100% and will do everything I can to guarantee it’s used to improve the lives of as many individuals possible.

Ripped Out is the Culmination of Why I Started RippedOut.com

When I first started designing this site in 2010, I already knew that I was going to write a book. I’d be lying if I said I had no intentions of making money with my book, but that was always secondary to the goal of giving others a solution for getting healthy, lean and ripped.

I’m someone that always plans ahead when it comes to the things I hope to achieve in life. For instance, here are the goals I’ve written down for myself that I hope to achieve in the next 5 years:

• Own a “hardcore” gym where people come to train with a purpose (not just to get in a workout)

• Make RippedOut.com one of the most visited fitness websites online

• Sell over 10,000 copies of Ripped Out

• Write another book (an inspirational story of how I achieved the bullet points above)

If you haven’t set goals for your life, you’re aiming at nothing, and will inevitably achieve nothing.

Okay, I’ve gotten a little off track. Back to the point…

3 years ago I had a vision of starting a website to inspire others to live stronger, healthier lives and stop being unhappy with their bodies. Part of that vision was to create an all-inclusive resource that would give them a blueprint to do just that.

Ripped Out is the fulfillment of that vision. So, it wouldn’t be fair to myself to be anything less than “all in” when it comes to sharing my book with others.

I understand that links pointing to a sales page can be annoying to a certain degree. But, again, I believe wholeheartedly in my system, and if that is what I have to do to get it in front of as many people as possible, so be it.

“Success comes in a lot of ways, but it doesn’t come with money and it doesn’t come with fame. It comes from having a meaning in your life, doing what you love and being passionate about what you do. That’s having a life of success. When you have the ability to do what you love, love what you do and have the ability to impact people, that’s having a life of success. That’s what having a life of meaning is.” – Tim Tebow

I understand My Book is Not for Everyone

In case you think I’m so enamored with how awesome my book is that I’m blind to reality…

I’m fully aware that not every person who lands on one of the articles on this site is going to be interested in getting ripped. I don’t personally understand their reasoning in most instances, but that’s the reality.

Some people simply have different (or more modest) fitness goals they’re interested in pursuing – and that’s okay.

That’s why I write on a number of wide-ranging topics on this site. So I can positively impact ALL OF MY VISITORS that desire to improve any aspect of their physical appearance and/or level of personal fitness – not just those that would want to get ripped.

By the way, in addition to my book, I also offer one-on-one fitness coaching (another shameless promotional link) to those who are serious about achieving any fitness related goal.

Again, I started this site with the intention of positively impacting as many people as possible. One-on-one coaching is just another way that I’m able to expand my ability to improve the lives of others.

While you may not like my linking to my book’s sales page, hopefully now you can at least appreciate where I’m coming from.

Now that I’ve done what I usually don’t do and responded to negativity, the next time someone complains about my promotional strategies, I’ll tell them to “be gone”. Or, I may just use a bit of irony by responding with a link to this helpful article.
