Time for Some Tough Love – Stop Being Unhappy With Your Body and Do Something About It!

  Feb 2nd, 2012

It’s time to stop being unhappy with your body!

There is so much unrest in our world today. With threats of war, fear of economic meltdown and political descension, there are certainly plenty of things for us to worry about that we have little or no control over.

On the other hand, being overweight, out of shape, and unhealthy, is something that far too many people unnecessarily worry about each and every day.

Unlike the things I mentioned above, being overweight is a problem that people do have direct control over, in most instances.

If you are overweight and unhappy with your body, this article is just for you. I am going to shoot straight to the heart of the matter and tell you what so many other people won’t…

That you, and you alone, are responsible for the way you look and feel!

Man Surrounded by CheeseburgersOur society has gotten very good at passing off responsibility and the topic of being overweight and unfit is no exception. People have actually sued McDonald’s claiming that the popular fast food chain was responsible for their weight problem.

These people need a swift backhand to the face! I realize this sounds harsh, but suing a fast food chain because of their own lack of self control is absolutely ridiculous.

Nobody forced them to go to the drive thru 10 times per week and order a super-sized Big Mac meal. They made that choice for themselves and they deserve to bear the consequences for that choice – not McDonald’s – or anyone else.

It is time to take some personal responsibility for your health and physical appearance. Just like those horrible dietary choices led to your putting on pounds of body fat and being unhealthy, making a commitment to eating better and exercising will also have an impact on your body.

I am here to tell you that the amount of body fat you are carrying around and the way you look are both within your control to change for the better and there is no time better than right now to do something about it!

How Simple It Is to Start Dropping the Pounds

It is time to stop sitting around complaining about how you wish you could lose 20, 50 or 100 pounds and be fit and healthy. If you really want to start losing weight and getting healthier, you need to start eating fewer calories, burning more calories through fat burning exercise and building some additional muscle mass.

I realize that is easier said than done, but those 3 elements really are all there is to it. After getting closer to your goal weight there are techniques that you will need to implement to help you get rid of those final pounds of stubborn body fat, but simply eating less calories and working out consistently really is enough for anyone who has a considerable amount of weight to lose to get down to a healthy and fit weight.

Tracking Your Calories

The easiest way to start eating for fat loss is to simply keep a food log to track your daily caloric intake. Give yourself a daily caloric allowance that you are willing to commit to as a starting point (I usually recommend 2,500 calories) and make sure that you don’t eat any more than that every day for 7 full days.

At the end of those 7 days you will weigh yourself. If your weight hasn’t decreased, you will reduce your daily caloric allowance by 250 and follow this new allowance for a full week.

You will continue this process of weighing yourself every 7 days, and reducing your calories if your weight has not gone down, until you reach your goal weight. This is a realistic diet plan that anybody can follow because it is simple and still gets results.

If the idea of carrying around a food log sounds intimidating, there are several great smart phone apps that will track your calories for you. Some of them even have a food database that you can use to look-up the calories contained in different foods if you aren’t sure about the calorie content of a certain food that you want to eat.

My wife uses the My Fitness Pal App and loves it. The app will give you a daily caloric allowance that is based on your goal and starting point and also provides a convenient place to track the foods you eat throughout the day. I don’t think the app has the ability to reduce your daily allowance by 250, but doing that on your own would be easy enough.

Working Out for Fat Loss

Just like dieting for fat loss, there really is no need for some kind of complicated training plan when you have a large amount of fat to get rid of. Just do something to burn fat and build muscle – and do it often!

Join a gym or health club and commit 45 minutes a day to working out 5 or 6 days per week. I know that joining a gym costs money, but you can’t put a price on your health and vitality, can you?

If you are truly unhappy with the way you look and feel, and really want to do something about it, $30 per month and 4 or 5 hours of your time each week should be something that you are willing to embrace. Trust me, after you reach your goal weight, neither of these sacrifices will even come close to measuring up with how great you look and feel!

Start your workouts with 25 minutes of fast weight training, lifting weights that are heavy enough that you cannot perform any more than 8 or 9 reps, and taking no longer than 60 seconds to rest between each set. The lifts that you use are not too crazy important when you are starting out, but you want to make sure that you are using lifts that at least target every major muscle group of the body one time each week.

After your 25 minutes of intense weight training, you should move on to some form of cardiovascular exercise. This can be jogging on a treadmill, working out on an elliptical machine, or any other low resistance exercise that allows you to maintain an elevated heart rate for a prolonged period of time. You will train with cardio (after training with weights) for around 20 minutes before leaving the gym.

If you can do this kind of workout regimen 5 or 6 days per week, and mind your nutrition as I explained above, you will be able to shed pounds of body fat each week and eventually reach your goal weight – regardless of what it is.

Enough of the Excuses

Your bodily composition is something that you absolutely have control over and you no longer have any excuse for sitting around feeling sorry for yourself for being overweight and unhealthy.

I have shared with you as easy of a plan as there is for making positive changes to your body and health. Keep in mind that no diet and workout plan requires zero effort as any such plan will require a certain amount of dedication and work on your part.

And don’t ever fall for thinking that some magic weight loss pills are your easy weight loss solution. They aren’t! Diet and exercise are the only way that you will be able to induce dramatic changes on your body.

Few things are worth investing in more than your health and I hope that you take what I have shared and apply it to your life. If you do, you will be noticeably improved (physically and mentally) a few short months from now.

If you use this information to transform your physique, please shoot me a message to let me know about it. I created RippedOut.com as a way to help others improve their bodies and get fit. Nothing would make me happier than to hear that I have had a positive impact on your health and your life.

If you are truly unhappy with your body, I know from personal experience that you absolutely do have the ability to change your situation. Stop stuffing your face with cheeseburgers, fries and sodas. Instead, start paying attention to your diet and working out with intensity and purpose.

Do that, and you will eventually have a body that you can be proud of!
