My Muscle Gaining Secrets Review: My Thoughts After Using Jason Ferruggia’s Muscle Gaining Secrets Program for Over 12 Weeks

  Sep 16th, 2011
I was thinking about what subject I would like to write about today and was surfing the web for inspiration when I came across a ridiculous excuse of a website whose sole purpose was to provide a so-called honest review of Jason Ferruggia’s Muscle Gaining Secrets program. The guy named Zach who runs the site claims to have used Muscle Gaining Secrets, but does nothing more than regurgitate the exact information that can be found at the official Muscle Gaining Secrets site, MuscleGainingSecrets.com. This dude offered no real value to his visitors (who would obviously be seeking a totally honest review of this program) and seemed to be doing nothing more than giving a sales pitch to drive people to click on his links to purchase the program and earn himself a referral commission. Don’t get me wrong, I have no problem with people recommending me a product. However, I would appreciate it if that person actually used the product and had at least one unique and insightful thing to say about it that couldn’t be read directly from the product’s website. What would be even better is if they actually had the integrity to give you their honest opinion – even if it is a little less flattering. Although, the website, as annoying as it was, did actually have some positive value for me. A couple of years ago I was looking for a new training and nutrition plan to help me start packing on muscle mass a little faster and I purchased (and used) Jason Ferruggia’s Muscle Gaining Secrets program for over 3 months. After seeing this first review site, I checked out a few of the other top Google results for “Muscle Gaining Secrets Review” and found that there wasn’t a single review of this program that wasn’t a sales pitch under the guise of a review. That was all I needed to decide to spend my night writing a 100% honest, comprehensive review of my experience using Jason Ferruggia’s Muscle Gaining secrets. My goal of this review is to do nothing more than provide valuable first hand knowledge about what you can expect if you are considering purchasing Jason Ferruggia’s Muscle Gaining Secrets. By the way, I value each and every one of my followers and I will not deceive them, or compromise my integrity and sell out, for the sake of putting a few extra dollars in my pocket. You can always expect nothing but honesty from me. On to my review of Muscle Gaining Secrets…

My Decision to Buy Muscle Gaining Secrets

As I said above, I bought Muscle Gaining Secrets because I was looking for some help for quickly building lean muscle mass. I am usually a little skittish about buying any kind of program on the internet because, let’s face it, there is a lot of crap online today. Actually, the amount of fitness and bodybuilding misinformation online is the reason I started this site.

What to Look for When Considering Any Bodybuilding Program

As a word of advice, if you ever look into hiring a personal trainer, or are considering purchasing a bodybuilding or fitness program, the first thing you want to look at is the kinds of results the trainer or program has gotten for others. After all, if they haven’t successfully transformed the physiques of others, why would you expect any different for yourself? One of the first things I noticed on MuscleGainingSecrets.com was the dozen or so transformation photos and testimonials. The results depicted in the testimonials was in line with what I was looking for which kept me interested enough to continue reading on. The next thing I saw was actually a negative in my mind. When I am looking to buy a bodybuilding program, I want it to be as simple as possible. I shouldn’t need 10 different books to tell me what I need to know to build lean muscle mass. When I saw the following photo of everything I would get, it kind of turned me off because I honestly didn’t want to read through numerous books to syphon out the information I was looking for: Muscle Gaining Secrets Products Nevertheless, I read a little more about what each one of these items had to offer. While I still didn’t think that all of these items needed to be separated into numerous different ebooks, I understood that this was a strategic move from a marketing perspective. I mean, who doesn’t feel like they are getting a little more for their money when it is presented as several different items, instead of one large one? That being said, I was interested in a few of the items other than the main Muscle Gaining Secrets book – especially the “Nutrition Guide”, “Recipe Guide” and “Supplement Report”.

Muscle Gaining Secrets 60 Day Money Back Guarantee

At this point I had mostly convinced myself that I would give Muscle Gaining Secrets a try, but when I saw the 60 day money back guarantee at the end of the page, that pretty much sealed the deal. In my formative bodybuilding years I tried a lot of programs and most of them were a complete waste of money. Knowing that I could receive a full refund if I was not completely satisfied with Muscle Gaining Secrets for any reason made me feel a lot more comfortable purchasing the program. A few minutes later I followed through and purchased Muscle Gaining Secrets, and since all of the books were digital, I was able to download them right away. This was a nice feature to me. When you read about a program and get all hyped up about starting it right away, nothing is more annoying than having to wait a week for the book or product to arrive in the mail before you can get started. Needless to say, I started reading through the Muscle Gaining Secrets program immediately and didn’t stop until about 90 minutes later when I had finished reading through every page of the main book.

An Overview of Jason Ferruggia’s Muscle Gaining Secrets Book

The book begins with a personal testimony from the author, Jason Ferruggia, in which he explains his own personal struggles to build muscle as a skinny hardgainer and details his experiences in learning what it truly takes to pack on pounds of muscle mass. That was about it for the first chapter. On to the second chapter…

Muscle Gaining Secrets – Chapter 2

I really enjoyed the second chapter of the book in which Jason explains the difference between working out and training. Here is one of my favorite excerpts from the book, which can be found in this chapter: “I train, I don’t workout. I have never worked out in my entire life. There is a huge difference between the two. I can’t work out. I don’t know how. Even if I did, I would never do it. It is what they do, and I will never be one of them. I only know one way and that is to go to the gym and train hard. If I can’t do that, I won’t bother going. Mindlessly going through the motions to get a good workout is not something I have ever been interested in. I train and I constantly strive to make progress. Training is so much more than working out. It helps you get to know yourself better. It shows you what you’re really made of and how hard you’re willing to work and persevere to overcome an obstacle. Training is a release. It’s a time to leave all the problems of the world behind and go to battle with yourself or your training partners. The iron can be your best friend and your worst enemy all at once. But it will always be there for you when you need it. When you establish this kind of relationship with the iron you will have something so much more meaningful than those who simply go to the gym to get a pump, pick up girls, and socialize. Working out is what the general public does to get in a little better shape. They go to the gym because they have to. They don’t love it, and they don’t live for it. But to those of us who feel most at home pushing heavy weight in some hole-in-the-wall hardcore gym, training is our passion. I’ve gone to battle with the iron and come out on the losing end many times. I’ve strained, pulled, and torn muscles and ligaments. I’ve screwed up my back and injured my knees. I’ve sweat, bled, and puked – all in the same workout. But I do it because I love it. The quest for strength is one of man’s basic instincts. It is something that has been pursued fervently since the beginning of time, because, as the old cliche goes, only the strong survive. Lifting weights can have an endless array of health benefits, but let’s be honest, that’s not why we do it. The people at the local fitness center do it for those reasons, but not us. We do it for that feeling of going to battle, the rush of hitting a new max, and to meet the challenge of pain and suffering that come along with it. We do it because we love to set goals and bust our asses in pursuit of them. We do it because it allows us to release all our pent-up anger and aggression. We do it because we know most others don’t have the balls to train like we do. We do it for that feeling of camaraderie and competition amongst training partners. We do it for the feeling that you can only get when you have a mind-numbingly heavy weight in your hands, straining for all that you’re worth, while your training partners are screaming in your ear, Slayer is blasting on the radio, and you’re slowly grinding toward that goal you’ve been chasing. That is why we do what we do.” * That little bit sums up what this book is about. Jason is a no-nonsense kind of guy who doesn’t beat around the bush. He tells you exactly what you need to hear to get you motivated to train heavy and train hard with the purpose of building muscle (and strength) as fast as humanly possible. Even though I don’t agree with every single thing Jason says, Muscle Gaining Secrets is filled with tons of great anecdotes like this that have had at least some impact on the way I view weight lifting and nutrition.

Specific Training Topics Covered

After spending a little time explaining the benefits of being bigger and stronger, Jason quickly moves on to covering the specifics of training to build pounds and pounds of muscle mass. Here are the topics that he specifically addresses: • Exercise Selection • Training Volume • Number of Reps • Repetition Speed • The Right Amount of Rest Between Sets • The Best Length of Time to Train • Frequency of Training Each Body Part This section was one of the most pragmatic and applicable portions of the book. In fact, the last two points were fairly convicting for me as I realized that I had been training way too long and much too often. While I had been getting great results, Jason explains why training for too long can actually negatively impact your testosterone levels and cause premature plateaus in muscle growth.

Muscle Gaining Secrets Exercises

After a considerable amount of attention being given to expounding upon all of the subjects above, Jason spends the next several chapters going through the best exercises for training each muscle group of the body and gives specific instructions on exactly how to perform each exercise. In many instances Jason also explains why performing the lifts how he prescribes them will actually lead to the building of more muscle in less time. These several chapters that focus on training every area of the body were some of the more bland portions of the book, but they were still extremely useful. I actually learned a few tweaks to how I was currently performing a few different lifts that enabled me to lift more weight during my very next weight training session. While this particular section of the book did expose me to some new and eye-opening information about proper form and technique, most of this section of the book was review for me since I had been lifting for quite some time. Nevertheless, there were some golden nuggets that made me happy that I didn’t simply skim over these chapters that were dedicated to using proper “Jason Ferruggia form” when performing specific training exercises.

A Weird Muscle Building Technique Explained

After Jason explains just about everything that could possibly be said about specific lifts to use for training the various muscles of the body, and how to do them for maximum effectiveness, he moves into talking about a technique called fascial stretching. Fascial stretching is a technique that I had never heard of before purchasing Muscle Gaining Secrets, but it was certainly an intriguing concept. Fascial stretching is a method of extreme stretching of the muscles that can only be effectively used immediately after the muscles have been trained. By stretching the muscles right after they have been trained, you can get a much greater stretch than when your muscles are loose and relaxed. After using fascial stretching I can tell you that it is one of those things that feels good yet hurts at the same time. It took a little getting used to, but I truly believe that this muscle stretching technique has helped me to produce new muscle cells – just as Jason explains in greater detail in this chapter of Muscle Gaining Secrets that is dedicated solely to fascial stretching.

Barbell for Weight TrainingThe Muscle Gaining Secrets Training Plans

The next chapter covered the two different Muscle Gaining Secrets training plans. There is a beginner program for those who are new to the weight training scene and a more advanced program for building as much muscle mass in as little time as possible. Since I had been weight training for many years before purchasing this program, I dove right in with the advanced mass gaining training plan. The lifts prescribed with the advanced training plan were mostly different than those I had been using before purchasing Muscle Gaining Secrets. Actually, I really enjoyed trying some of the different lifts in my new training plan, such as weighted push-ups, weighted tricep dips and dumbbell split leg lunges. The dumbbell split leg lunges were crazy hard, and created a soreness in my legs that I hadn’t felt for years, but after a couple of weeks I developed a love-hate relationship with this exercise because they helped me to quickly build greater strength in my legs and glutes that ultimately enabled me to squat an additional 30lbs after about 6 weeks.

Muscular Rest and Recovery

The next chapter is dedicated to the subject of adequately resting your muscles for maximum growth. Bodybuilding is my life and I am always reading, studying and experimenting in order to continually gain more knowledge on how to most effectively build muscle and burn fat. As such, I already knew the importance of rest and recovery when it came to muscle growth, but Jason did give me a newfound sense of the important role that rest plays in maximizing muscle growth. He gave a dozen or so techniques that could be used during times of rest to make sure that your muscles have the greatest opportunity for growth possible. Here are a few of the topics covered in this chapter of Muscle Gaining Secrets: • Stretching on Off Days • The Right Amount of Sleep • Advanced Rest and Recovery Techniques • Importance of Avoiding Alcohol and Drugs • Breaks From Training Jason makes a lot of really interesting points in this section – many of which I had never heard of or thought about before. In particular, the concept of taking a full week off from weight training every 8-12 weeks was something I would have never considered doing until Jason explained the significant muscle building benefits that a week off from training can provide. Next, Jason transitions to what is arguably the most important topic in any bodybuilding or fitness program – nutrition.

Muscle Gaining Secrets Diet and Nutrition Plans

While the central theme of Muscle Gaining Secrets is building muscle mass as fast as possible, there are actually 3 different diet plans that are provided in the book that are based on any one of the following goals: • Build Muscle Mass as Fast as Possible • Simultaneously Build Muscle and Burn Fat • Quickly Shed Body Fat Since building muscle while burning fat was the most desirable for my physical makeup at the time, I decided to follow the plan for simultaneously building muscle and burning fat. For about 2 years prior to purchasing Muscle Gaining Secrets I had been following a relatively strict diet in which I was weighing all of my foods to make sure that I was eating approximately 60% carbohydrates and 40% complete proteins for each meal throughout the day. You can learn more about the diet I was following prior to buying Muscle Gaining Secrets by clicking here. meat and veggiesAll of the nutrition plans laid out in Muscle Gaining Secrets centered on eating a fixed amount of protein each day with variable amounts of carbohydrates that are dependent upon your specific goal. This was a welcome change for me as I was able to spend a lot less time measuring out my foods and could focus most of my attention on simply monitoring my carbohydrate intake, which isn’t that difficult at all – even for a beginner. The book then concludes with Jason providing answers to dozens and dozens of frequently asked questions regarding following the Muscle Gaining Secrets program. While some of the questions contained in this final section were already answered at various points throughout the book, I still found this final section of the book to be useful for answering pretty much all of my outstanding questions that I needed answered before getting started with training and eating in a manner that was consistent with Jason’s various instructions in Muscle Gaining Secrets.

My Experience With Muscle Gaining Secrets

I have already provided a few small details about my experiences with using the information provided in Muscle Gaining Secrets. Still, I want to share with you a more detailed look at how I used this program and what my end results of following the Muscle Gaining Secrets program for over 3 months were. I followed the maximum muscle mass building training plan (combined with the nutrition plan for building muscle while burning fat) for 4 weeks straight. At the end of those 4 weeks I had gained a total of 8 pounds and was able to lift more weight on every lift that was prescribed in the maximum mass building training plan. Because I was so impressed with my gains in size and strength, I decided to switch my nutrition plan to the one that focused solely on building as much muscle mass as fast as possible to see how well the mass gaining nutrition instructions really worked. I continued following this plan for another 2 months or so for a total of 3 months using Jason Ferrugia’s Muscle Gaining Secrets program. After 3 months I was considerably bigger and stronger. My 4 rep squat weight increased by almost 50lbs and my bench press weight went up by over 30 pounds. My body weight increased from 190lbs to about 212lbs (almost 2 pounds gained per week). In fact, I actually had several people complimenting me on how full my muscles were looking, which is always nice. While it was nice to be receiving compliments, I did gain a certain amount of fat during those 3 months and lost some of the definition in my abs. Overall, I was happy with the change that had occurred on my body after 3 months, but I enjoyed having six pack abs too much to continue eating the high amounts of carbs that Jason prescribed with the nutrition instructions for building muscle mass as quickly as possible. I did ultimately switch off of the nutrition plan prescribed in Muscle Gaining Secrets so I could focus on reducing my body fat percentage in order to get back my ripped abs and defined physique. However, I still continue to use a lot of the lifts, techniques, tips and advice that Jason shares in this book and feel that it is definitely a worthwhile investment for anyone who wants to learn how to most effectively pack on serious amounts of muscle mass.

Muscle Gaining SecretsA Final Word on My Muscle Gaining Secrets Review

After seeing the spam-ridden Muscle Gaining Secrets reviews online, I set out to provide a 100% honest and forthright review of this popular online muscle building program as a way to truly help those who might be considering giving it a try. Every person is different and I cannot make the decision of whether or not you should purchase Muscle Gaining Secrets. But I hope that I have at least made your decision a little easier. The truth is that Muscle Gaining secrets is not for everyone. If you are someone who doesn’t have access to a gym or a full set of weights you are not going to be able to perform the workouts as described and will probably be better off finding another program that is better suited to your specific circumstances. Nevertheless, my sincere hope is that this review will at least help you with your decision to purchase, or not to purchase, Jason Ferruggia’s Muscle Gaining Secrets. Unlike just about every other review of this product that you will find online, my Muscle Gaining Secrets review is provided by someone who lives and breathes bodybuilding and has actually tried Muscle Gaining Secrets for an extended period of time, which appears to be a rarity on the internet today.
